PEHOA History

The first three model homes in the community were built on Goth Lane; completed in 1980 and were built by Ryland Homes. Our total community consist of 137 single family and townhouse homes. In the beginning, housing prices were in the $110,000 range.

While not a part of Peachwood HOA,the brick homes built on Lear Lane (north of Goth LN); the north side of Goth Lane and those along Briggs Chaney were built in the 1960’s. The community on the other side of Good Hope Road, Windmill Lane extended, was the Pickens farm which grew corn/hay for area cattle. In the 1970’s there were so few families with elementary school aged children that Cloverly Elementary School was closed and potential building use options included adult housing. It was reopened in 1989 after some renovation and an addition added since 2005.

Our community is located within the headwaters of the prized Paint Branch watershed known for its brown trout. Though not native, the fish survival rate indicates a healthy environment. The wet lands have prevented and restricted some development in our area. In the 1990’s

Briggs Chaney Middle School was planned adjacent to our community at the corner of Briggs Chaney Road and Good Hope Road. Last minute federal land use changes dealing with wet lands caused the County to move the middle school to its current location on Rainbow Drive. This parcel of land bordering our community still belongs to the Montgomery County Public School System. Prior to any development, Native Americans frequently hunted the area; arrow heads can still be found on occasion. Many who moved into the area in the 1980’s have watched as their children attended Cloverly Elementary School, Briggs Chaney Middle School, and either Paint Branch or James Hubert Blake High Schools, ….

Since the beginning of our community in 1980, several generations of children have called our community home and the cycle continues. The low turnover in our community is one of the many attractions our community has to offer; folks come and they stay.
